Things to do around Gairloch

  • Beaches in the area are sandy, large, clean, and never crowded

  • Walks - there are plenty in the area to suit all abilities and energy levels. We recommend Walk Highlands for the most comprehensive information on local routes

  • For the "munro-baggers" we have 5 of the bigger ones within easy reach - Beinn Eighe, Ben Alligin, Liathach, Slioch and An Teallach

  • There are plenty of good restaurants and pubs in the area to find superb food. Here are a few of our favourites -Badachro InnThe Old InnThe Millcroft

  • There are historical attractions in the area from the local award winning Gairloch Museum to the Big Sand Archeological trail

  • At Cove are wartime defences and dramatic coastal scenery

  • Inverewe Gardens is a short drive away and is a must for walkers, wildlife lovers and gardeners alike

  • More active things to do include golf, pony-trekking, sailing, cycle hire, and much more

  • All kinds of fishing - coarse, sea and fly - are available in the area

  • For longer days out, you can reach Ullapool, the Moray Firth (by the Black Isle and famous for dolphin watching), Loch Carron or Plockton

  • There are shops and places to eat within walking distance, if you don't want to drive
